Hello detectives! As we hit V1.0 we’re looking at moving away from our in-game report system: It has been incredibly useful for us over early access but as the number of different bugs reduces we want to switch our approach to one where you can submit more or different data outside of the game. It also benefits us to have a little less volume in terms of multiple reports; noise can be a problem to some degree that can bury certain issues and will give you visibility of what is being worked on.
A couple of housekeeping rules:
- We have a publicly displayed bug tracker here. It’s manually updated as to not automatically display submitted bugs (as this would feature repeat cases). We wanted a concise list here so we can comment and give you an update on the state of various issues. A side effect of this is that it may often be slow to see your case show up. We’re going to aim to review new submissions roughly once a week, but this timing will be situational.
- If you see a bug in the public list that you are about to submit, please check to see if it is marked ‘collecting reports’ or ‘no further reports needed’. If it’s the latter it means we are fully aware of the bug and also have enough data to work on it. If this is the case you need not submit the report: If all goes according to plan you should see a fix soon!
- Please don’t submit feature requests, we’d like to keep this list to bugs only. We will continue to add new QoL features and minor content throughout future patches but we’re not seeking feedback for them through this channel; consider using the discord or steam forums for discussion on them instead.
- Please don’t submit performance issues unless they are extreme and your machine is above minimum spec. Minimum spec should be providing at least 30fps at 800p (and hopefully higher in most areas). We’re always looking for performance gains but it is a demanding game, there’s a lot going on and we can’t bake in graphics/shadows/AI pathing like most other games can as everything is procedural. This ups the performance costs significantly, and may result in a more varied FPS than most games due to the sheer amount of stuff going on.
- Please don’t submit bugs from or resulting from mods; love them but we can’t officially support these unfortunately.
- Please keep in mind certain bugs may need a new city to be fixed. This is especially true of object spawning or geometry issues. These will be marked on the changelogs with an asterisk.
- Our general process for fixes will be to mark them as ‘Fix Upcoming’ as soon as we think we’ve found a solution, meaning you should see it in an upcoming patch very soon. After the patch is released, the status will change to ‘Fix Issued’, and then if we’re not seeing reports by the time the next patch is ready, then it will change to ‘Closed’. After some time we’ll delete the ticket to keep the list manageable.
- Priority categories should reflect the below:
High: Game breaking issue.
Medium: Doesn’t stop the game from being played, but is annoying or creates difficulties.
Low: Doesn’t really affect gameplay much; could be a minor cosmetic or audio issue.
- The above categorization may not dictate which fixes you see in patches first; some issues may be very simple fixes and require a lot less time to correct so will appear in patches more quickly. Some issues may take a lot of time to debug or have multiple causes, delaying the fix.
- Thanks for your patience, hopefully this new system will provide a bit of extra communication on issues.
